About Reference

The “Guide to Youth Engagement in Political Parties” provides an evidence-based practical framework for understanding youth participation within Yemeni political parties and political groups, with a particular focus on moving beyond presence and symbolic representation toward more meaningful, influential, and sustainable participation. Developed by Youth Without Borders Organization for Development (YWBOD), the guide draws on young people's experiences, political party leaders' perspectives, and field-based evidence from several governorates in Yemen.

The guide uses a mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative evidence, including 82 youth survey responses, interviews with leaders from nine political parties and political groups, four focus group discussions conducted in Taiz, Aden, Marib, and Hadramout, as well as in-depth qualitative interviews. It examines youth participation across five interconnected dimensions: party vision toward youth, organizational structure and youth representation, participation in decision-making, capacity building and development, and external linkages, sustainability, and accountability. The guide also offers diagnostic and internal review tools, training options, and monitoring indicators that political parties can adapt to their own organizational and political contexts.
